Italian-born Antonio de Gobbi is particularly valued among European basses for his versatility and his outstanding operatic interpretations, both in terms of musical and theatrical performance. Antonio de Gobbi is much sought-after for CD productions and TV broadcasts.
After his studies at the Conservatorio di Parma with M° Sandrini, he made his debut at the Scala in Milan. Ever since then, he has been working with the world's most renowned conductors and directors, such as Liliana Cavani, Jonathan Miller, Graham Vick, Giorgio Strehler, Giuseppe De Simone, Pier Luigi Pizzi, and Hugo de Ana. Especially his collaboration with the great directors of our time has strengthened and perfected his highly versatile interpretations of a wide range of characters, reaching from the comic to the dramatic genre.
Antonio de Gobbi has sung on Italy's greatest stages in productions such as Bohème, Tosca and Italiana in Algeri in Venice, Nabucco at the Arena di Verona, Un Ballo in Maschera at the Filarmonico di Verona, Aida at the Festival Avanches, and Il Trovatore in Ravenna, to name just a few of the highlights of recent years. At the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he appeared in the part of Macbeth, with James Colon as conductor, and in Un Ballo in Maschera and Idomeneo with Simon Bichkov. Other productions include Die Meistersinger with Zubin Metha, La Forza del Destino with Valere Gergiev at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Verdi's Requiem with the London Symphony Orchestra in Brussels, and Rossini's Stabat Mater at the opening of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

One of his greatest triumphs so far was his interpretation of the Conte in a production of Le Nozze di Figaro, conducted by M° Pinzauti and directed by Pier Paolo Pacini - not only because of his vocal accomplishments, but also because of his outstanding theatrical performance.
